SOB

Shortness of Breath. As in DIB, except this means shortness of breath. There may be no DIB in such patients but they will be struggling to complete a full breath in or out (or both) and so this separate descriptive is often used to describe them. Certain cardiac conditions cause SOB in patients because, although they are breathing 'normally'; that is, they are pulling air in and out of their lungs as usual, the amount of oxygen they are getting into the lungs and bloodstream may be compromised.
